Carved African female bust. African ebony hardwood. It seems that the artist has done a very professional job of using the heartwood for the bust of the woman and the rest of the wood for the border around her. Three carved African female figures. Typical of hand carving from Tanzania. African hardwood, most likely  ebony. These are a group young women going about their daily chores. One of them has a child clinging to her leg. Another is with child.  Each is carrying something on their heads and each has a small sack or satchel. Please do your own research as I am not familiar with all the ins-and-outs of African carving. Very good condition. Some sign of repairs – one to the neck of one figure.  The other could be the artist filling in a knot hole. They are on small, steel plates so that they stand up properly. Excellent condition.
